Tad Kepley, the retired Chief of Police from Lexington, NC, boasts a distinguished 30-year career with the department. Earning an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Davidson-Davie Community College in 1983 and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Western Carolina University in 2005, Kepley brings a wealth of knowledge to his endeavors.

Post-retirement in 2015, Tad transitioned into the field of education. Initially starting as a part-time Law Enforcement Training Coordinator at Davidson-Davie Community College in 2016, he now serves as the School Director for Advanced Law Enforcement Training.

Beyond his law enforcement background, Tad discovered a passion for woodworking. With his grandfather's whittling knife in hand, he crafts exquisite wooden spoons, emphasizing functionality. From tree to table, each spoon is meticulously carved for everyday use. Tad extends his expertise by teaching Greenwood Spoon Carving classes at various venues, including the John C. Campbell Folk School and the Greenwood Wrights Festival.

Married to Elizabeth Hodges, Tad is a proud father of three grown children and a doting grandfather to two grandsons.
