ADC is powered by the passion of our neighbors. Whether you want to be right in the middle of the action at a live music night, surround yourself with beautiful visual art, or help us physically build the magic behind the scenes, we have a spot for you.

 

No prior arts or theater experience is needed—just a friendly attitude and a willingness to help!

Choose Your Vibe: Open Volunteer Roles

1. Bar and Hospitality

• Welcome our theatergoers! Greet guests, take tickets, and help people find their seats in the Black Box Theatre.​

• Cashiers behind the bar:  Serve tea, wine, and beer during live music events, open mic nights, and performances. Take payments for drinks, food and merchandise.

• Baked Goods:  Provide homemade treats for intermission concessions or gallery openings.

• Perfect for: Outgoing people who love socializing, chatting with local creatives, and listening to incredible live acoustic sets.

• Shift Length: approximately 2.5 hours

2. Gallery & Gift Shop Stewards

• The Role: Keep our beautiful gallery spaces welcoming. You'll greet visitors, answer basic questions, and assist guests looking to purchase pieces from our Gift Gallery.

• Perfect for: People who love quiet, inspiring spaces, abstract paintings, and visual storytelling.

• Shift Length: Flexible daytime & evening blocks (perfect for retirees or students!).

3. The Facilities, Black Box Crew & Handypeople

• The Role: Help us transform our spaces and keep our creative home beautiful! Tasks range from stocking the Art Bar, to moving furniture and resetting heavy seating layouts to set up the Black Box Theatre, painting walls, and tackling minor building or electrical repairs.

• Clean Team: Keep the facility welcoming by vacuuming and cleaning restrooms before and after events. 

• Perfect for: Handywomen, handymen, active individuals who don't mind heavy lifting, or anyone who loves working with their hands to physically build the experience behind the scenes.

• Shift Length: Highly flexible! We coordinate around show schedules for pre-performance setups, post-show resets, or weekday maintenance blocks.

4.  Growth and Community Engagement

• Website Design: Maintain, update and improve ADC's online presence. 

• Social Media: ​Help us create Reels, share our stories, and showcase our creative family. 

• Public Relations: Draft press releases and pitch local media to get the word out about ADC.

• Fundraise: Help secure grants, coordinate donor campaigns, and plan future events.

5. Production and Creative (Behind the Scenes)

• Set Design: Conceive and design the visual worlds for theatrical productions or gallery themes.

• Build Sets: Use carpentry and construction skills to bring set designs to life.

• Costume Design: Source, sew, and manage wardrobe items for shows.

• Photograph Events: Capture high-quality photos of performances, galleries, behind the scenes, and fundraisers.
