Arts Davidson County thrives on
a unique mix of local history and
forward-thinking creativity. Our
roots go back to 1966, when a
passionate group of local creators
—led by the visionary A. Stuffer Myers—launched the Lexington Artist Guild with a bold idea: art shouldn't be exclusive. It belongs to everyone. Over the decades, that grassroots movement exploded into a driving force dedicated to building a vibrant, proud, and unapologetically diverse arts culture right here at home.
Today, we operate out of 202 N Main Street in Uptown Lexington, running our operations out of the historic Davis Chevrolet Company building. We transformed the old dealership structure to create an incredible industrial canvas for community creativity. Walk through our doors and you’ll see the history stitched into the walls—most notably in our main theater and rehearsal spaces, built directly inside the building's former mechanics' car bays. It’s the ultimate mashup of local heritage and modern artistic energy, giving families and artists an inspiring space to push boundaries, learn, and create together.
Our Mission
As the designated arts council for Davidson County, Arts Davidson County works to ensure that every resident has access to arts education, cultural experiences, and a vibrant, diverse arts community.

How We Serve
Each year, Arts Davidson County engages hundreds of students through hands-on arts education and presents free exhibitions, performances, and cultural events that bring people together and keep the arts accessible to all. Through grant funding, we support local artists and nonprofits, strengthening the creative community across the county.

Through programs at our arts center, partnerships, community events, and outreach beyond our walls, we create opportunities for people of all ages to experience, participate in, and be inspired by the arts.
